Description

With a client’s design direction of an ‘urban/plaza’ style facility the Narangba Skatepark replicates what a wheeled user would encounter in a street environment. This objective encouraged the low level facility to ties into the spaces existing infrastructure and vegetation from the connection of paths, common materials, shared refuge spaces and centrally located trees/planting whilst ensuring existing sight lines are maintained through the space to align with CPTED principles.

The street nature elements include ledges, rails, level changes along with banked walls of varying heights and angles. The skate function compliments other skateparks within the Council area ensuring each offer a point of difference. Accompanying the active function is passive opportunities of seating, paths, drinking fountains and entry signage. Much of the hard landscape infrastructure is bespoke to the facility, ensuring further uniqueness along with elements that integrate into the broader facility as a whole.

The project was designed in collaboration with Baseplate and delivered as a design and construction project with Concrete Skateparks.
