Description

This regional facility was delivered in August 2017, after 10 years of campaigning by the local community. This commitment extended from design throughout construction with local stakeholders and companies finishing off the facility with paths and landscaping.

The facility is a great example of diversity for a regional town with numerous elements catering for a wide range of user types and their varying skill levels. The elements offer points of difference from street styled elements i.e. ledges, rails, stairs to more transition style through a range of transitions with each differing in heights along with a separate BMX pump track. The combination of these elements have been arranged to ensure maximum flow through the space ensuring the space can be used by single users whilst also broken up for larger groups via separate functioning areas. The park was finished off with refuge areas including seating, planting and a ‘megafauna’ climbing structure as a connection to the towns renowned fossil discoveries.

The park has been used as a leading example during various consultations to other communities. It was designed by the local community, Eastbywest and Baseplate.
